A group of Greater Des Moines businessmen with expertise in the waste management and recycling industries have formed Greenwaste LLC, a new waste and recyclable hauling company that will specialize in serving the commercial market in Central Iowa. The new company will operate under the name Earthwise Disposal.
The company's principals include Todd Mendenhall, president of Cleaning Connection Inc.; Mick Barry, a longtime recycling expert who currently serves as vice president of the National Recycling Coalition; and Brian Meng, former president and CEO of Des Moines-based Mid America Recycling.
Earthwise Disposal's initial focus will be the residential and commercial roll-off business within the Des Moines metropolitan area. In addition, the company plans to launch sales and marketing efforts to build a commercial front-load waste and recycling route.
"The commercial sector of the waste stream in metro Des Moines, which accounts for 76 percent of the waste stream, is being underserved with the lack of options available for comprehensive waste stream management systems," Barry said in a release. "The commercial sector truly is in need of a local firm that can provide complete waste stream management systems including document destruction and security, recycling, organic and food waste composting and solid waste management."
According to the company's website, other principals in the new venture include Mike Palmer, president of Palmer & Sons Refuse, a family-owned waste management company based in Lincoln, Neb., along with members of that company's management team.
The company's address is 3423 Delaware Ave. and it can be reached at 515-265-9664.
