Love, Loss and What I Wore      7/10/2015 8:00:00 PM
1800 Bell Ave. , Des Moines
The Rising Phoenix Theatre Company will perform Love, Loss and What I Wore at the First Unitarian Church of Des Moines, 1800 Bell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Performance dates are Friday and Saturday July 10th and 11th and Friday and Saturday July 17th and 18th at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday July 12th and Sunday July 19th at 2:00 p.m. Back by popular demand, Love, Loss and What I Wore, by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, is based on the book by Ilene Beckerman. It is a play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memories, covering all of the important subjects – mothers, prom dresses, buying bras, hating purses, loving high heels and why we only look good in black. The play was first performed in Des Moines by The Rising Phoenix Theatre Company in July 2012. After receiving rave reviews from Iowa audiences we have decided to share the fabulously funny and heart-warming play with return theatre goers and new audience members alike. Women and men will relate to these stories. The Rising Phoenix Theatre Company is honored to help The Junior League of Des Moines. As part of our event, audience members are encouraged to bring donations of gently used clothing and accessories for the Bargain Basket, a boutique thrift shop in the East Village managed by Junior League of Des Moines. Proceeds from the sale of donated items support the Junior League’s mission and its community project, a recovery home for victims of sex trafficking. Please limit donations to one small bag of clothing and accessories per theatre patron.
