The Table: Burundi      8/8/2015 6:30:00 PM
Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines
Join us at the next Table event to learn more about the Burundian community. Enjoy a Burundian meal in addition to a cultural performance by local community members. Opportunities to learn more about the Burundian community in Iowa and how you can get involved in supporting local refugee populations will also be available. Since 2005, more than 300 families from Burundi have resettled to Iowa from refugee camps in Tanzania. Forced to flee Burundi in 1972, these families obtained refugee status in the United States and have built their homes in Iowa. This event is made possible through the partnership of LSI’s Refugee Community Services, Lutheran Church of Hope and the Burundian community. Please join us in welcoming all of our neighbors, from both near and far, at an evening of food and fellowship at The Table!
