Ultimate Dinosaurs      2/22/2015 12:00:00 AM
515-274-6868 x222
401 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Des Moines
Millions of years ago, the supercontinent Pangaea broke apart, and dinosaurs became passengers on these drifting land masses. The result? Dinosaurs with unusual - and sometimes bizarre - features that are different from the ones we know and love. Based on new, groundbreaking research from scientists around the world, Ultimate Dinosaurs reveals a new breed of dinosaurs that evolved in isolation in South America, Africa and Madagascar. From the tiny Buitreraptor to the massive Giganotosaurus (T. rex's bigger, badder cousin), Ultimate Dinosaurs is a fascinating study of species you may not have met before. See Ultimate Dinosaurs October 12, 2014, through April 12, 2015, at SCI!

2015 ZKL Educational Foundation Black & Gold Ball      2/28/2015 6:00:00 PM
1800 50th Street, West Des Moines
The ?2015 Black & Gold Ball will take place on Saturday, February 28th (social @ 6p and dinner @ 7p). This black tie affair, which includes dinner and entertainment, is held annually as a fundraiser for the ZKL Educational Foundation. Proceeds from this event are primarily used to award college scholarships to ethnically diverse students from the greater Des Moines area. We expect this year’s event to be just as great (if not greater) than past years. At this event our organization recognizes its past year accomplishments along with awarding college scholarships. In addition, we will recognize an individual who has been both a leader and positive role model within the diverse community of greater Des Moines with our Alpha Award of Merit. Past winners of our Alpha Award of Merit include the likes of Rep. Ruth Ann Gaines, Mary Campos, Catherine G. Williams, Thomas Phillips, Willie Glanton, and Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad. This year, Dr. Mary Louise Chapman will be added to this distinguished list! The night will conclude to the sounds of Des Moines' very own - DJ Hollywood. Please consider attending or providing a contribution. Tickets can be purchased online (http://zkl06.org/blackandgoldball/tickets-on-sale-now/) or by contacting a member of the Zeta Kappa Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
