The Ankeny Art Center is pleased to present their annual K-12 art exhibits February 4th through May 3rd. The AAC presents three K-12 exhibits annually including Bondurant, North Polk, and Ankeny Schools. The Ankeny Art Center’s K-12 exhibits are part of our extended outreach programming, intended to introduce and familiarize students with the gallery setting. Familiarizing students with the gallery will bring about individual self-worth of students within the community, increased community involvement; promote culture and diversity, along with the insight of the interworking of becoming an exhibiting artist. The vision is to make creative, unique, and innovative art experiences accessible to every person in the community of Ankeny and surrounding communities. We fully believe that unique art experiences will enrich the lives of the public and teach children how to be better members of the community. Please join us as we celebrate the creativity of the youth in our area. All receptions are free and open to the public.

When Alice chases a White Rabbit with a pocket watch, she suddenly finds herself in a madcap adventure in Wonderland. She gets a lesson in manners from the Tweedles, finds herself a guest at the Mad Hatter's tea party, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game. Based on the popular film, Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr. features such classic Disney songs such as "I'm Late" and "The Un-birthday Song." Make your Lenten season more meaningful by attending a performance of the Last Supper Drama, presented by the men of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the Carlisle United Methodist Church, 405 School Street, Carlisle, Iowa. Over 400 performances of the drama, based on Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, have taken place since 1970. To get to the church, take Iowa 5 into Carlisle to the intersection with South 5th Street. Go north on South 5th Street beyond the Carlisle High School. Go east on School Street. Carlisle United Methodist Church is on the north side of School Street by 4th Street.

Max Wellman will be bringing his band in for a special night at the renowned Bistro Montage, playing two unique sets of standards written by the likes of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and many more. The restaurant will be set up in much the same way the great jazz clubs of New York or Chicago are, giving the audience a chance at real intimacy with the band and music. Space is very limited and the band will be playing without amplification. Seating is arranged by 1, 2, 4, and 6 top tables and will be coordinated by Wellman following each ticket purchase. The band will feature Austin Brown on guitar, Steve Charlson on bass, Julius Brooks on saxophone and Benjamin Poppen on drums. A special menu, crafted by chef Enosh Kelly, and full bar will be available. Tickets are $20 per set, with one at 6:30 and one at 9 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. respectively.
