|America is losing up to 40% of its food to waste according to the Natural Resources Defense Council. A workshop on October 30 at the Des Moines Public Library will explore the food waste issue and focus on methods to reduce food waste and divert it from the landfill.
Hosted by the Iowa Waste Reduction Center the workshop will include presentations and discussions from regional experts such as Aubrey Martinez, Director from Eat Greater Des Moines at the Iowa Food Systems Council and Shelly Codner, Area 2 Representative from the Iowa Waste Exchange. IWRC specialists will also speak as well as a panel of representatives from area organizations and businesses who will identify the challenges to food waste reduction and diversion.
Registration for the one-day workshop is $10, which includes lunch and zero-waste services will be provided by RecycleMeIowa.
