Greater Des Moines residents using Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) buses tomorrow can pay their fare with nonperishable food items, which will be donated to the Food Bank of Iowa.
DART is holding the "Food Ride" day to support the Yankee Doodle Drive Against Hunger, an initiative announced on Monday by Lt. Gov.
Kim Reynolds, Dahl's Foods Inc., ARAG, Bank of the West, DART and the Des Moines Symphony. The initiative is focused on supporting the Food Bank of Iowa through July 5.
On Friday, residents can also donate food items at the DART office. Until July 5, food items can be donated at any Dahl's or Bank of the West location. Food items must be in original packaging, nonperishable and not in glass containers.
