The sixth annual Des Moines Restaurant Week broke its record for its economic impact to the Metro, according to the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. This year's event, Aug. 16-25, brought in $308,000 compared with $285,000 in 2012. It also drew 22,000 diners to 32 participating restaurants, a 10 percent increase from last year. Participants who submitted at least four receipts from participating restaurants were eligible to win a trip for two to California's Sonoma County. This year's winners were Emily and Jason Sparks, who live in downtown Des Moines.  Next year, Restaurant Week will be Aug. 15-24. The event is organized by dsm magazine.
