John Kaduce, retired CEO of Lifespace Communities Inc., recently received the Francis Lackner Award from LeadingAge Iowa during the long-term care association's awards banquet. The association's top award is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of aging services. Under Kaduce's leadership, Des Moines-based Lifespace Communities (formerly Life Care Retirement Communities) grew from five communities to 11 in seven states, and is now recognized as the seventh-largest U. S. not-for-profit senior housing provider. LeadingAge Iowa represents a spectrum of nonprofit providers, including skilled nursing, assisted and independent living, home health, adult day care, respite, hospice and home-delivered meals.
