Makers, crafters and performers are needed for the inaugural Des Moines Mini Maker Faire, scheduled to take place Sept. 1 at the Science Center of Iowa. Maker Faire is a showcase of invention and creativity that travels to cities around the world and brings together people ranging from technology enthusiasts to scientists to garage tinkerers. Projects for the Des Moines fair can include robotics, green tech, do-it-yourself science, radio, rocketry, unusual tools or techniques, whimsical creations and more. Any groups or individuals interested in presenting their project, activity or performance at this event should complete the simple application online by Aug. 15. There is no cost to exhibit at the Faire.
