Central Iowa's music industry accounts for more than 1,300 jobs in the area and adds more than $39 million in labor income and $65 million in regional value, according to a press release from the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition. The coalition commissioned the study, which included research by Dave Swenson, an associate scientist in Iowa State University's economics department. The study measured the impact of musical performers and promoters, radio, music stores, production of musical instruments and more. The full study can be foundonline.
