Athene USA will close its office in Topeka, Kan., and shift approximately 225 positions to its West Des Moines headquarters, The Des Moines Register reported.
Steven Carlson, an Athene spokesman, told the Register that the Topeka employees were informed today that the office would close by the end of this year.
"Through the combination of transfers and the recruiting and hiring of new people, we will be adding approximately 225 new full-time jobs in West Des Moines over the next six or eight months," he said. "This represents significant job growth for the city of West Des Moines and the state of Iowa." Currently, 900 of Athene's 1,400 employees are based in West Des Moines, Carlson said.
