Bravo Greater Des Moines has awarded a total of $215,707 to 12 Central Iowa arts and cultural organizations as part of its Capital Campaign and Projects Grant program for fiscal 2014. Eligible applicants were nonprofit arts, culture and heritage organizations based in 16 Central Iowa communities that have entered into hotel/motel tax agreements with Bravo Greater Des Moines. Applicants were required to convey a clear need and plan for specific capital campaigns or projects as well as efforts to secure funding from other sources. Ankeny Art Center received $10,500; Ballet Des Moines, $18,008; city of Grimes, $1,472; city of Urbandale, $24,408; Clive Public Arts Advisory Commission, $15,000; CultureAll, $4,500; Des Moines Art Center, $54,000; Des Moines Symphony and Academy, $6,000; Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation, $22,500; State Historical Museum of Iowa, $7,212; West Des Moines Historical Society, $46,107; and West Des Moines Public Library Friends Foundation, $6,000.
