Broadlawns Medical Center announced the opening of its new Oncology Hematology Clinic, which will enable the hospital to care for patients who would otherwise have to travel to Iowa City for treatment. Focused on the treatment of cancers and blood disorders as well as chemotherapy, the new clinic offers services from a growing team of specialists. "We were referring more than 100 patients a quarter to Iowa City for care," said Kristina Harlow, clinical nurse manager at Broadlawns. "Now these patients and others will have the care they need near family and friends without the additional stress and expense of traveling several hours." Broadlawns also plans to add a laboratory and pharmacy in the clinic for further patient convenience. Located on the second floor on the west side of the main hospital, the clinic is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
