Bloomsbury Farm in Atkins readies Al Roker-themed corn maze

ATKINS - Every year, thousands of visitors from Iowa and surrounding states tour the Bloomsbury Farm corn maze. The design changes every year and this year's maze celebrates the 60th birthday of "Today" show weatherman Al Roker. The intricate 10-acre puzzle will open Labor Day weekend and close on Halloween.

Bettendorf manufacturing company expands, receives help from city

BETTENDORF - The Bettendorf City Council has approved expansion plans and a financial incentive package for a Bettendorf manufacturing business. Bowe Machine Co. plans to expand its downtown location to keep up with its global sales, its president Simon Bowe told council members Tuesday. The 58-year-old company produces industrial shear blades and car-shredding machines.

New CEO of Opportunity Village settling in

CLEAR LAKE - The new head of Opportunity Village is settling in after six weeks on the job. Jeff Nichols is the new leader of the private, nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to serving people with physical and intellectual disabilities. He succeeded retiring CEO John Severtson.
