County Endowment Fund contributes more than $8.2 million

A total of 2,144 grants from gambling revenues contributed more than $8.2 million to 85 counties in 2012-13, according to a report released by the Iowa Council of Foundations and the Iowa Gaming Association.The program was created in 2005 as an initiative of the Iowa Legislature to use a percentage of the state's commercial casinos' gaming tax revenues to create a strong community foundation infrastructure to the counties that do not hold a state-issued gaming license.
