Deere & Co. will lay off 100 workers from its manufacturing plant in Ankeny next month to adjust for market demand, The Des Moines Register reported. The workers were notified on Friday that they would be laid off in early November. A spokesman for the Moline, Ill.-based farm and construction equipment maker said it notified workers in mid-August that layoffs would take place in mid-September and early November. About 40 manufacturing workers were placed on indefinite layoff in September. The layoffs affect production employees and not skilled trades workers, the company said.
