The Des Moines Social Club has hired a former director of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs to be its chief operating officer. Cyndi Pederson will lead and direct the organization, working closely with Executive Director Zachary Mannheimer on business development, fundraising and more as the nonprofit transitions to its new location in a repurposed downtown fire station. "I am thrilled to add Cyndi's leadership to our team," Mannheimer said in a release. "Her skill set is a perfect fit for the DMSC, and our future has the brightest possible outlook." Pederson is a Des Moines native and has also helped guide other nonprofits, including Center on Sustainable Communities and Salisbury House Foundation. She also served as chief of staff to Christie Vilsack and former Gov. Tom Vilsack's transition team.
