Des Moines is pretty good for a lot of things. It was dubbed the "wealthiest city" in America by "The Today Show." It was named the best city for young professionals, and also one of the best places to do business.

Now, it's also the best place to stop and smell the roses. Literally.

According to SizeUp.com, Des Moines tops the list of best U.S. cities for flower retailers this Valentine's Day. Sizeup.com chose cities that showed higher per capita annual floral sale revenue than other cities in the country.

The company's findings? Midwesterners are simply more romantic.

"As florists' revenues tend to peak during Valentine's Day week, we wanted to learn where brick-and-mortar flower shops are most successful," Anatalio Ubalde, CEO of SizeUp, said in a news release.  "Interestingly, half the cities on our top 10 list are in the Midwest."

Other Midwestern cities on the list include Fort Wayne, Ind., Downers Grove, Ill., and Lansing, Mich. A map of all selected cities can be found online.
