Grand View University has received a $200,000 grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust in Muscatine to support the purchase of scientific equipment. The university has received previous grants from the Carver Charitable Trust, but this is the first grant for scientific equipment, Grand View officials said. Among the four instruments to be purchased is equipment used in studying genetics, molecular biology and chemical reactions. The equipment, paired with purposeful course revisions, will help support students as they explore opportunities to begin their careers in the fields of genetics, molecular biology, cellular biology and biochemistry.
