Pending house sales in Greater Des Moines rose 34 percent from March to April, to 1,541 contracts that were written for a purchase, according to the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors. The number of houses that actually sold also increased to 788 from 735 the previous month. Pending sales have increased 18 percent from a year ago, but actual sales were down slightly. The number of days a house was on the market dropped to 98 in April from 103 in March, and active listings rose to 3,874 from 3,765.
