The Des Moines Area Association of Realtors said today that 861 houses were sold last month, a 20 percent increase over September 2012. There also were 940 pending sales, a 21 percent rise from a year ago. "We continue to enjoy a very strong market. Whether you're buying or selling, this is a very good time to make a move," President Larry Pickering said in a news release. The median sales price was up 6 percent from last year to $162,900. That figure is $4,550 lower than August's median price. Houses were on the market an average of 82 days. Cash sales accounted for 19 percent of all sales. There were 4,268 active listings in September, compared with 4,371 last year.
