U.S. jobless claims fall
Reuters: "The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits fell last week to a near six-year low, a promising sign for the labor market. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 305,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday."
Fund to let investors bet on price of bitcoins
The upstart stock exchange SecondMarket is expected to begin raising money today for the Bitcoin Investment Trust, a new investment fund that will allow investors to bet on the future price of the online currency, The New York Times reports.
Citigroup to pay $395 million to settle Freddie Mac claims
The New York Times: "Citigroup has agreed to pay $395 million to the government-controlled mortgage finance company Freddie Mac to settle claims on home loans it had sold to it. The agreement, announced on Wednesday, involves 3.7 million mortgages that were sold from 2000 to 2012."
