Thomas Temple, who recently retired as executive vice president and CEO of the Iowa Pharmacy Association, has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention. Temple has served as a trustee of that board since 2010, and recently launched his own consulting firm in Urbandale. He also serves as director of strategic communications for the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. A global health organization, the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention uses science-based standards to ensure the quality, purity and strength of medicines, dietary supplements and food ingredients. Temple, who had led the Iowa Pharmacy Association since 1980, is a member of several state and national pharmacy associations and has served as president of the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations.
