Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa has named Dana Ramundt of Des Moines and Tom Niblock of Washington, D.C., as its inaugural alumni of the year. Ramundt, a 1974 graduate from Eldora, is president and CEO of The Dana Co. an independent insurance agency he founded in Des Moines in 1989. He has served the insurance industry as president of two county independent insurance agents' associations and as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, and most recently served on the board of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. At the university, he helped to establish the Emmett Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance and continues to serve on its advisory board. Niblock, a 2007 Tippie graduate, has been named recipient of the Young Alumnus Award for his work as a foreign service officer with the U.S. State Department. He currently serves in the Office of Taiwan Coordination in Washington D.C., and previously served as the staff assistant to the ambassador at U.S. embassies in Beijing and Islamabad, Pakistan. He is also the author of "Tip of the Dragon's Tongue:  The Adventures of a Young American Diplomat in China."
