Carole Tillotson, associate director of career development at Drake University Law School, has received the 2013 Forty Under 40 Alumnus of the Year Award.
Each year, this award is given to a past Forty Under 40 class member to recognize continued contributions to the community after his or her initial recognition.
"In my opinion, Carole has show extraordinary leadership since her selection to the class of 2001," wrote Des Moines Performing Arts President and CEO Jeff Chelesvig, in a nomination letter. "She has served her community well as both an elected official and as a board member for community and state organizations.
Tillotson was appointed to a six-year term to the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board by Gov. Chet Culver in 2010, sat on the board of the Metro Waste Authority and served eight years on the Windsor Heights city council.
She has also shown commitment to the arts, sitting on the the board of directors of Bravo Greater Des Moines, Civic Music Association and Metro Arts Alliance.
