The Iowa Economic Development Authority board approved incentives for Helena Industries Inc.'s planned $4 million expansion of its regional office and industrial campus at 3525 Vandalia Road. The Tennessee-based company specializes in the formulation, blending, filling and packaging of chemical products. The expansion will create three jobs, one of which must pay at least $23.12 per hour to receive state development incentives. The company asked for $207,500 in state economic development tax credits. The Des Moines City Council previously approved an $168,000 economic development grant for the project. The expansion was made possible after Helena Industries bought 30 acres of city-owned land for $450,000.
