Geoff Wood announced in a blog post on Monday that his Gravitate entrepreneurial hub space is officially moving forward. "Late last week we crossed the membership point where it's feasible for the project to work on a month-to-month basis," Wood wrote in the post. The BrownWinick law firm and the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center are the first two organizations to financially sponsor the space, and Gravitate has commitments from 25 coworking members who will be in the space on a regular basis. Gravitate is set to open Sept. 1 in the Midland Building at 206 Sixth Ave. Wood decided to open the space after StartupCity Des Moines, which currently serves as a consistent meeting place for entrepreneurs, announced it is closing this doors this fall.
