Iowa legislators, Canadian diplomats and the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly will meet Feb. 4 to celebrate Canada Day in Iowa.
Consul General Jamshed Merchant, Canada's top diplomat in the Upper Midwest, will give remarks to both the Iowa House of Representatives and the Iowa Senate. Also, members of Saskatchewan's Legislative Assembly will visit the Capitol and meet with elected officials as part of an event organized by the Council of State Governments, Midwest office.
Iowa sells more to Canada than to the next three largest foreign markets combined. Annual trade between Iowa and Canada totals $7.5 billion.
