Jason White is leaving the Warren County Economic Development Corp. to work in business development for a private engineering firm.

White, who has been executive director of the nonprofit organization that promotes economic development opportunities south of Des Moines, said he is joining Kirkham, Michael & Associates Inc. as its business development manager.

In his resignation letter to Doug Shull, president of the Warren County group, White said his last day will be May 16.

News of the resignation came as White joined Carlisle city officials on a bus tour with commercial real estate professionals to highlight that city's recent development accomplishments, including the construction of its first grocery store.

Kirkham Michael has been the consulting engineering on a range of major Greater Des Moines infrastructure projects, including the planning for the multi-million dollar expansion of Alice's Road in Waukee. The company is based in Omaha and has an office in Urbandale.

During his three-year tenure as director of the Warren County group, in which he launched a $2 million economic development plan and was active in the expansion of Capital City Fruit Co. in Norwalk and Loffredo Fresh Produce Co. Inc.'s move to the city. He was also active in bringing a Fareway grocery store to Carlisle.

White said his biggest achievement was putting Warren County on the map as an economic development force to be reckoned with.

"To me, it was getting Warren County Economic Development to the point where people saw it as a real catalyst for growth and development," he said.
