The Iowa Energy Forum will host an event April 22 at Drake University featuring former National Security Adviser James Jones, a retired U.S. Marine Corps general who will speak about the national security and energy independence benefits of the Keystone XL pipeline.

The event, at Drake's Olmsted Center at 2:30 p.m., is part of the Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship Spring 2014 Speaker and Film Series. If approved by the Obama administration, the pipeline would transport 850,000 barrels of oil per day from Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast.
