New data from the U.S. Energy
Information Administration shows that wind-generated electricity made up 24.5
percent of all the electricity generated in Iowa in 2012, making Iowa the first
state in the nation to exceed 20 percent of all generation from wind.
This feat
will be celebrated at the sixth annual Iowa Wind Power Conference March 25 to
27 at the Iowa Events Center. The conference will also feature remarks from
Gov. Terry Branstad, U.S. Rep. Steve King and an official from the U.S.
Department of Energy as well as showcase transmission project updates, new wind
energy research and 60,000 square feet of exhibits.
