Former Iowa Hawkeye quarterback and football coach Chuck Long will join Holmes Murphy & Associates as business development executive, the West Des Moines-based insurance broker announced. "In thinking about my next career move, two things were certain," Long said in a release. "I wanted to challenge myself and I wanted to be part of a winning team." Long said that in addition to his new role he will continue to serve as a broadcaster on the Big Ten Network. Long began his college football career as quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes in 1981 and narrowly missed receiving the Heisman Trophy in 1985. He played for eight years in the National Football League, mostly with the Detroit Lions, and for 16 years coached college football teams including the Hawkeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, San Diego State and Kansas Jayhawks.
