Gov. Terry Branstad today announced a new effort to eliminate licensing barriers for qualified veterans and military spouses who want to teach in the state. The Iowa Board of Educational Examiners has created a military exchange license for veterans and spouses who have teaching credentials but face new license requirements when they move to Iowa. The license ties into the Home Base Iowa initiative, which aims to recruit military veterans to the state. The Iowa House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee today passed a similar act today to expedite professional and occupational licenses for veterans and spouses who are already licensed elsewhere.
