Cancer patients often miss or delay treatments for lack of reliable transportation, according to the American Cancer Society, which is enrolling volunteer drivers. Its Road to Recovery program offers free transportation to treatment sessions for cancer patients who need it. Volunteers should have a reliable vehicle, driver's license and proof of insurance, be willing to submit to a background and Department of Transportation check and commit to a short training session. For more information and to volunteer, call the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345.
