More than 400 women are expected at the American Heart Association's 10th annual Go Red For Women luncheon Friday at Des Moines University, the lead sponsor for this year's event. West Des Moines resident Barbara Magee will share her story about how her daughter, Madison, underwent open heart surgery while an infant and how she herself battled a potentially fatal congenital heart condition. Laura Jackson, executive vice president of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, will be the keynote speaker. The funds raised through the Go Red For Women Luncheon will be used to support women-focused research, education and advocacy efforts to improve women's heart health in Central Iowa.
