Suzanna de Baca, a former member of the Planned Parenthood of the Heartland board of directors, has been named the new president and CEO of the organization.
De Baca was selected after Planned Parenthood conducted a national search to replace Jill June, who retired last month after 30 years with the organization. De Baca brings to the position more than 20 years of executive leadership at public and privately held nonprofits. Most recently, she was the vice president of wealth strategies at Ameriprise Financial Inc.
In addition, she currently serves on the boards of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, the Minnesota Women's Foundation and Hennepin County Medical Center. She has been recognized by national media as an industry expert in finance with a specific expertise in women's and LGBT issues, and the intersection of health and money.
Raised on a farm near Huxley, de Baca attended Iowa State University and received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. She and her husband, Ron, currently reside in Minneapolis and plan to relocate for her new position.
