Two of Iowa's largest health systems - UnityPoint Health and University of Iowa Health Care -  have been named among the "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" by Becker's Healthcare, a national publication. UnityPoint Health, which is based in Des Moines, has more than 28,000 employees and is the fifth-largest nondenominational health system in the country. The Becker's review included evaluating the employee benefits and satisfaction, workplace culture, professional development opportunities and previous recognition for workplace excellence. UnityPoint Health physicians and employees have the opportunity to develop skills through the system's leadership academies; employees are also offered health-risk appraisals and a wellness program. U of I Health Care, which has approximately 12,0000 employees, matches retirement plan contributions by employees up to 10 percent. Also, nurses seeking bachelor's or higher degrees can receive $9,000 in tuition funding, and more than 150 nurses currently are pursuing advanced degrees.
