The Healthiest State Initiative has chosen the first 15 fellows for the Iowa Walking College, a six-month training program to strengthen local efforts to make the state's communities more walkable and livable. "Recognizing that walking is one of the easiest, most affordable and accessible ways for us to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day, we are excited to offer a training opportunity to increase local efforts that can support walking and walkability," said Jami Haberl, executive director at the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative. Three Polk County residents, Joann Muldoon, Kristin Saddoris and Connie Eastman, will participate in the program, which begins May 2. For more information about the Iowa Walking College, click here.
