    Tuesday’s announcement by the Wellness Council of Iowa that it was ceasing operations was not a surprise to its members, who were asked to vote on the decision, Wellness Council board member Patty Kumbera said today. Between 110 and 120 organizations were members.

Miller has been known in yoga circles for creating a popular Iowa yoga festival that brought that nation’s top yoga teachers to the state, and for his yoga teacher training programs.

    Some startups take shape in a garage. This one, however, was born in a classroom in downtown Des Moines.

    Tom Myers, a former investment banker, connected with molecular biologist Mahesh Mathrubutham through the University of Iowa’s Tippie Executive M.B.A. program at the John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center to launch VEMTOWA LLC.
