Gov. Terry Branstad joined Deere & Co. Chairman and CEO Sam Allen and other officials Tuesday in celebrating the official opening of the company's 300,000-square-foot sprayer assembly expansion in Ankeny. The addition is part of $85 million in investment at the plant, including upgrading equipment and beefing up research and development, The Des Moines Register reported. The project helped to retain about 400 of the 1,900 positions the Moline, Ill.-based company has in Ankeny.
