Drake Law School has announced a partnership with Des Moines Metro Opera to present "The American Death Penalty as Reflected in the Opera 'Dead Man Walking': Age-Old Themes, Emerging Trends, and Recent Developments." This event is free and open to the public, and will be held in Sheslow Auditorium at Drake University. David E. Drake, a local psychiatrist, will moderate the event, which will take place on June 4 at 7 p.m. Drake is using DMMO's production of "Dead Man Walking" as a springboard for discussion of the changes in the death penalty over the last three decades. Opera information can be found on Des Moines Metro Opera's website, and more information about the panel event can also be found online.
