Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller has secured an injunction against one Nevada telemarketer and is seeking legal action against another, contending they used misleading claims about the supplement products they sold to Iowans. An Iowa judge on Thursday barred Las Vegas-based Americare Inc. from telemarketing health- and nutrition-related products here. An undercover investigation recorded telemarketers from the company making unsupported, misleading and illegal claims about Americare's oral spray's effects on cancer, diabetes and arthritis. The injunction, also requires the defendants to provide refunds to any Iowans who request them. In a separate case, Miller requested an injunction preventing Iowa telemarketing by Au Naturale Health Solutions along with its CEO, Gerri Bronstein, and two company employees. Miller said the company has claimed its phytoplankton capsules would help with, or even fully reverse, more than 500 conditions and afflictions, including arthritis, diabetes, high cholesterol, fibromyalgia, sleep disorders "and even cancer."
