Iowa's 15 community colleges and ACT Inc. will announce on Thursday a partnership to improve the state's advanced manufacturing work force, officials said in a release Tuesday. The Iowa City-based testing company will partner in an initiative to "strengthen the talent pipeline of current and future advanced manufacturing workers across the state," the community colleges said. Iowa's community colleges are already part of a consortium to build training capacity in advanced manufacturing programs to address the "skills gap" in demand for both basic and high-skilled tech workers in the manufacturing industry.
