    Nelson Construction & Development has unveiled plans for its third iteration of a development called Miesblock that will occupy the eastern portion of a former city of Des Moines parking garage at Seventh Street and Grand Avenue.

    Developer Mike Nelson told the Business Record several years ago that his line of work required “gravel in your guts.” Around Greater Des Moines, his Nelson Construction & Development has erected new buildings and renovated old structures. The company’s expertise in historic rehabs can be viewed in Omaha; St. Paul, Minn.; and, soon, St. Louis. A vote Tuesday by the Des Moines City Council might give one indication why.
