Iowa Business Council (IBC) recently announced a partnership with the Home Base
Iowa initiative to recruit veterans and active duty service members for private
sector job opportunities in Iowa.

veterans entering the workforce in Iowa and across the nation. Home
Base Iowa is working to bridge Iowa’s skills gap by linking these military men
and women with high quality civilian careers in Iowa – a goal that benefits
both veterans and Iowa’s economy.
Through its partnership with Home Base Iowa,
the Iowa Business Council is working to recruit the nation’s best and brightest
veterans to locate in our great state and contribute to our state’s businesses
and economy. The Iowa Business Council has set a five-year goal to hire 2,500
veterans – a number that would create an
immediate and lasting impact in the veteran community.
order to accomplish this, Home Base Iowa will provide veterans with resources
that can open doors to job opportunities, welcoming communities, and on-going
engagement with the military. The effort
provides veterans with the opportunity to visit Iowa at no cost to the veteran
or his or her family. The Home Base Iowa recruitment team will work with
veterans to arrange all aspects of a trip to Iowa including a hotel room,
rental car, job interviews, and community visits.
These trips provide veterans
with an invaluable chance to learn about the opportunities that exist in Iowa –
helping to transition the project’s mission from the realm of the hypothetical
veterans and co-chairs of the Home Base Iowa initiative, we are very

is the best place for servicemen and women to live and work after completing

companies that employ individuals in all 99 Iowa counties, totaling nearly
250,000 employees. Businesses represented in the IBC epitomize the broad range
of industries in which Home Base Iowa veterans will have an opportunity to apply
their skill sets.

state as to how we can grow Iowa’s workforce. By recruiting veterans, these
businesses will be employing skilled, professional leaders with sound work
ethics, integrity, and dependability.
