Greater Des Moines house sales gained 11.9 percent from May to June, but the number of contracts written for future sales declined slightly.

Potential buyers entered into 1,144 contracts last month, the same number as last June and down from 1,226 in May, according to a report today from the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors. The median sales price was $175,000 in June, up from $165,000 in May and $170,000 in June 2013.

Houses were on the market an average of 79 days last month, down from 87 in May and 84 a year ago. The Realtors described the housing market as "rock-solid."
