Minneapolis-based Oppidan Investment Co. said it has sold or contracted to sell all 131 lots in a West Des Moines residential development it rescued from banks in 2011 after they obtained nearly 300 acres of land at 88th Street and Mills Civic Parkway from the former Regency development company. Included in the Oppidan purchase was land where the Waukee Community School District is building an elementary school that will open in the fall. Oppidan, working with Iowa Realty Co. Inc., has now sold 61 of its 131 lots and has contracts for sale on the remaining 70, the latter of which are expected to close by October 2014. To date, the city of West Des Moines has issued 49 building permits for new single-family homes in the development, according to a news release.
