The Iowa Leading Indicators Index held steady at 106.1 in April, the fourth consecutive month at that level, the Iowa Department of Revenue said today. The most positive contributor in April to the index was the category of building permits, with the 12-month moving average rising 1.9 percent to the highest level since March 2008. That still was 27.3 percent below the 10-year average level, the department said. The new orders manufacturing index was a positive contributor for the first time in six months. The two largest negative contributors were the agricultural futures profits index and the national yield spread, or the difference between the yield on 10-year Treasury bonds and three-month Treasury notes.
