The World Food Prize Hall of
Laureates has earned the highest rating under the U.S. Green Building Council's
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design system. According to a news
release, the Platinum designation rarely goes to 19th century buildings. The
building once housed the Des Moines Public Library. It was designed during the
late 1800s as the part of the City Beautiful movement. The World Food Prize
Foundation launched a $30 million renovation, working with RDG Planning &
Design, Hoerr Schaudt lanscape architects, HR Green Inc. and Neumann Bros.
Inc.
