Iowa home sales dropped 4.7 percent to 1,976 in February from 2,703 in February 2016, while median sales prices were stable, according to the Iowa Association of Realtors. Year-to-date sales are down 1.7 percent from the year-ago period. Houses that sold last month had been on the market an average of 91 days, compared with 96 days in February 2016. In Greater Des Moines, pending home sales increased to 1,332 in February from 1,006 in January, while buyers closed on the purchase of 690 homes last month, compared with 729 the previous month, the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors said. Year-ago comparisons were nearly identical, with 694 homes sold in February 2016. The median sales price last month was $169,900, down from $179,400 in January.
