You just don’t get much more Greater Des Moines than Adam Kaduce.
Mentor: Paul Rupprect, president, Realty Marketing Group
Yes, if called, he would serve. “I’d love to be considered to say, ‘Yes, I’ll stand up and take the reins.’”
He’s an Urbandale native who interned with R&R Realty Group while attending Drake University and its law school. Wouldn’t you know it, he stuck with R&R rather than go to work for some big law firm.
“I always wanted to go to law school,” Kaduce said. “But I really loved the real estate side of business.”
Kaduce has plenty of business experience.
Along with his brother, Michael, Kaduce launched a lawn-mowing business when he was 13, starting out by making certain the lawns in his neighborhood were trimmed and tidy.
“It grew into a business that put Michael and me through college,” Kaduce said.
Although they both have full-time jobs, the business still operates.
“It’s been a great experience on how to take care of a customer,” he said. “If the price of gas goes up, that doesn’t mean you can charge $3 more for a yard.”
Kaduce finds plenty of ways to stay busy. For recreation, he plays golf and runs. He considers his involvement with many organizations to be hobbies.
In addition, he has been active in politics. He was a legislative intern during his senior year in high school, and that provided some insight into how “an individual can make a difference.” He particularly likes politics at the local level, where good policy matters more than partisan gamesmanship.
“When it comes to local politics, there is no excuse for inaction,” he said.
Reasons he’s a Forty:
• He is a member of the Urbandale Economic Development Advisory Board.
• He is the membership chairman of Capitol City Connection.
• He is an adjunct professor in the Drake University College of Business and Public Administration.
• He is a board member of the Urbandale Education Foundation.
• He is, as many of his Forty under 40 supporters said, a “doer.”
