The STEM Advisory Council's Broadband Committee today released recommendations on how to improve broadband connectivity throughout the state as part of the Connect Every Iowan Initiative. Recommendations included developing incentives to promote broadband build-out, developing a wholesale model which would allow private providers to access unused Iowa Communications Network bandwidth, and support programs which encourage adoption and use of broadband technology. Governor Terry Branstad launched the Connect Every Iowan Initiative in September, and asked the STEM Council's committee to develop legislative recommendations.
